Vampire Weekend are an indie pop/rock band with Afro-pop influences. Bandmates Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Christopher Tomson and Chris Baio formed February 2006 in New York City. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2008 on XL Recordings to, critical success featuring in many end of year lists. They gained comparisons to Paul Simon’s Graceland for the Afro-pop style, as well as to The Kinks and NYC’s The Walkmen.
